The Museum of Natural and Cultural History is a place for making connections—to each other, to our past, and to our future. It's a place for digging into science, celebrating culture, and joining together to create a just and sustainable world.
Since our founding, we’ve aspired to enhance knowledge of earth’s environments and cultures, inspiring stewardship of our collective past, present and future. We conduct research and create exhibits in collaboration with Native American Tribes to enhance public knowledge of the state’s deep history. From perennial exhibits like Oregon – Where Past is Present and Explore Oregon, to exciting changing exhibits like Outliers and Outlaws, there are always connections to be made between the past and the present.
The Museum’s Archaeological Research Division has been working on exciting new projects that are revealing long buried histories. For example, archaeology done during the construction on the Van Buren Bridge in Corvallis is shedding light on the economic and social status, and ethnic diversity of households in the area from 1910-1913. And, in downtown Eugene, artifact analysis and archival research revealed a long forgotten Chinese restaurant and gift store. And, this summer, field school will return to two Eastern Oregon locations where we continue to investigate the lifeways of the First Oregonians.
With your support, we can go further. Your Ducks Give contribution will help us continue to connect the past and the present both in the museum and virtually as we develop online resources that offer a more inclusive Oregon story.
Make your gift now. Every contribution, no matter the amount, will help us inspire greater connection across a more inclusive Oregon history. Thank you for being a part of it.
