A small gift from you can make a big difference for us. It could mean a new instrument in the hands of an aspiring musician, an inspiring workshop from a guest artist, or the opportunity for Oregon students to compete on the national and international stage.
The School of Music and Dance is a careful steward of its donated funds. Gifts directly support students and faculty members in over 300 concerts and events each year, and improve the performances through the purchase of new instruments and equipment.
This year we are highlighting scholarships and other fund opportunities:
School of Music Annual Scholarship Award Fund: Scholarships play an important role in recruiting the best students for performing arts programs, especially those who might have financial barriers to furthering their education and career. Not only does this scholarship give the opportunity for the best musicians to grow at UO, but it guarantees the School of Music and Dance maintains its careful balance within all performing ensembles. Imagine a symphony with too few violins, an opera without sopranos, or a marching band without a drumline.
School of Music and Dance Dean's Excellence Fund: Provides unrestricted funds to be used by the dean to support urgent needs and opportunities that have no other source of funding.
Dance Scholarship Fund: This fund provides scholarships and grants to students in the Dance Department. These funds give the program the opportunity to recruit the best up-and-coming performers who need financial assistance to succeed and to award those who have exceeded within their artistry.
Dance Discretionary Fund: This fund allows the head of the Department of Dance to provide more students with more meaningful support and helps with the purchase of equipment for the Dance facilities.
Marching Band Support Fund: To be allocated for the marching band's general use including uniforms, equipment and travel expenses.
