Portland Internship Experience

A meaningful internship can have tremendous impact on a student. And this internship program is designed to make a lasting difference in the community as well.

The Portland Internship Experience is a summer program that connects UO undergraduate students with a small business, non-profit or community organization. Students receive a philanthropically funded stipend, while spending 10 weeks gaining career experience and professional mentorship.

“This program was designed to create access by removing financial barriers, curating the internship opportunities, and supporting students to make the most of their experiences,” said Jane Gordon, vice provost for Portland.

The program is back for a third year, because of support from our donors! Students will get the chance to work at 50 selected sites in the region this summer.

These internships focus on social justice, community-building, racial equity and economic recovery.  Selected students will get the chance to build career skills and connections, while assisting their internship sites with projects that have a big impact.

Hundreds of students and local businesses applied to participate in the program, showing a strong desire by students for this type of opportunity.
