Support Civic Engagement and Future Public Leaders
Join the Wayne Morse Center for Law and Politics in promoting civic engagement and uplifting the next generation of community leaders.
Your gift will support programs for students such as Wayne Morse Scholars, which provides skills building, service learning, and leadership training to UO undergrads from any major or background who are interested in public affairs and inclusive democracy. Since 2014, donors have supported more than 200 students in this program. They are now working to serve their communities in Oregon and beyond in a variety of ways. Here are a few examples:
- Jakob Hollenbeck ('22, Economics and Political Science) was recently recognized by multiple news outlets for his experiences in helping and supporting his unhoused neighbors in Portland. He is currently a paralegal at McKelvey Kozuma, P.C., and is headed to Georgetown Law in the fall on a public interest scholarship.
- Rose Kordahl ('22 Political Science; Chemistry minor) researches advanced lung disease and lung transplants within the Pulmonology and Critical Care Department in the Department of Medicine at UCSF. She hopes to combine her work in the medical field and her study of political science to advocate for policy reform.
- Sravya Tadepalli ('19, Journalism and Political Science) is a graduate student in public policy at the Harvard Kennedy School and a board member of Hindus for Human Rights. Prior to graduate school, she was the principal employment advisor at Community Services Consortium, a community action agency that provides poverty alleviation services in rural Oregon.
- Juliáe Riva ('21, PPPM, General Social Sciences) is the Clean Fuels Program Grants coordinator at Portland General Electric, where she oversees transportation electrification for businesses, workplaces, public charging, and multi-unit dwellings, with a focus on underserved communities.
In addition to providing students with opportunities, your gift will also support the Wayne Morse Center’s free public events, which bring students, scholars, activists, policymakers, and community members together to discuss issues affecting Oregon, our nation, and the world. Your contribution allows us to hold hybrid events that you can attend online from anywhere in the world, or in person here in Eugene.
Give to the Wayne Morse Center for Law and Politics during Ducks Give, and support programs for students and the community that strengthen our democracy.
