Hands-On Learning
Doing real-life work turns wide-eyed students into innovative professionals. Students apply what they learn in the classroom out in the field—in student-run agencies and publications, during premier internships, and on experiential trips around the nation and world. They say this hands-on fieldwork gives them a crucial edge when they’re looking for jobs. But many can’t afford these transformative experiences without financial help.

Blazing new trails in research and practice keeps our faculty at the forefront of a rapidly evolving media landscape. As our researchers probe the role of media and communication in the digital age—from virtual reality to community engagement to solutions journalism—they’re advancing the field while keeping a sharp focus on ethics. But they can’t do it without you!
