Portland Internship Experience
Support the Portland Internship Experience

The Portland Internship Experience (PIE) places skilled and motivated UO undergraduates in mission-driven businesses and organizations.

More than a professional development program for students, PIE strengthens the social and economic fabric of the community and is an investment in Portland itself.

PIE participants receive: a philanthropically funded stipendcareer preparedness, and university support servicesallowing them to focus on learning, mentorship, and impactful community projects. Your contribution not only fosters personal growth for these bright minds but also drives positive change within the organizations and communities they serve.

What is the PIE experience? PIE interns:

  • Gain critical professional experience through 10-week, full time internships
  • Build capacity at mission-driven businesses and organizations serving the Portland region
  • Develop core career competencies through the application process, their work in a professional setting, and a scaffolded PIE curriculum
  • Participate in social and networking activities that enhance the internship experience through peer and alumni connection
  • Receive a philanthropically-funded $7,000 stipend which reduces barriers to participation

Your gift helps sustain and grow PIEenabling more students to benefit from career-preparing internships. Through the generous support of donors like you, we aim to expand this invaluable opportunity to more UO students.

"This summer helped me see more clearly the kind of work I want to do. Work that's grounded in values, driven by impact, and done alongside people who care. I'm so grateful to PIE and to [my host site] for making that kind of experience possible."

- Molly Armitage, class of 2027, PIE 2025
