Invest in Native American (American Indian/Alaska Native) Student Success at UO

Many Nations Longhouse is a home away from home for Native students, where they can find community and connect with academic, cultural, and social resources. 

Your gift in support of the Many Nations Longhouse is an investment in the continued success of Native students at the University of Oregon. These funding initiatives will increase the recruitment, retention, and graduation of Native students while nurturing a sense of belonging and community. 


The Many Nations Longhouse hosts student centered activities and cultural programming including:

  • Culture Nights (Thursdays throughout the academic year) 
  • Indigenous People’s Day (October) 
  • Native American Heritage Month (November) 
  • Storytelling Night and traditional meal (Winter term) 
  • Indigenous People’s Reception and traditional meal (February/March) 
  • Mother’s Day Pow wow and Salmon Bake (May) 
  • Native Graduation and traditional meal (June) 


Opportunities to support the Many Nations Longhouse’s efforts to support and provide resources for Native students include the following:

  • Many Nations Longhouse Library, $50+ 

Native historical and cultural literature. 

  • Sponsor Student Success Students, $100 

Scantrons, green books, and educational materials for students 

  • Cultural, Beading, and Regalia Workshops, $100/participant 

The Many Nations Longhouse in partnership with the Native American Student Union and Native American Law Student Association hosts cultural, beading, and regalia making workshops for students. 

  • Many Nations Longhouse Pantry, $250/week or $2,500/term

Any contribution is appreciated. The Many Nations Longhouse has a food pantry available to students. We regularly replenish healthy food options for our students (vegan and gluten free options always included).

  • Many Nations Longhouse Fire Pit, $500+

Annual maintenance, wood, and materials for our fire permit to cook traditional salmon bakes.

  • Hood and Range Annual Cleaning and General Maintenance, $1,000

Annual maintenance costs. The Many Nations Longhouse uses the stove/oven to cook traditional meals for our Community Culture Nights, cultural meals, events throughout the year. 

  • Culture Night Dinners, $1,300/dinner, $2,600/one month of dinners 

First and Third Thursdays each month we share a community meal and serve 80+ students and community. We learn from each other, share a meal together and build and strengthen our community. 

  • Native American Student Union (NASU’s) Indigenous People’s Day Celebration, $1,750 

Replacement of tribal flags: Each October, the Native American Student Union host a reception at the EMU Amphitheater. Native American tribal members and community members share their commitment to honoring those who have come before them and protecting our mother earth and future generations. The nine Oregon Tribal Flags are raise to fly proudly on campus all year. 

  • Winter Storytelling Cultural Event, $5,000+ 

Hosting Native storytellers and cultural keepers including honorariums, travel costs, community traditional dinner, and student employees. Traditional storytelling has passed down through tribal communities for generations. It is an integral part of Indigenous culture to teach lessons, record history, and to entertain our communities. The Many Nations Longhouse is honored to hold Storytelling events to share these important lessons with our students, families, and community. 

  • UO Native Graduation Celebration, $5,000 - $10,000 

Traditional meal and graduation costs and honor blankets for Native Graduates. Each June we celebrate our graduating students (bachelors, masters, and doctoral candidates), we host their families and our community, share a traditional meal and a video presentation.
