Making educational and social systems work for all – that is our core mission in the nationally-ranked College of Education. Through research, academics and outreach, we help prepare the next generation of educators who are on the cutting edge of finding solutions for critical social and educational problems.
Today, we have an opportunity to further that mission. Five donors have given a total of $144,000 to support the most urgent needs in the COE, scholarships for students, and clinical services provided through the HEDCO clinic. Their gifts will unlock when we reach the following milestones on the way to our goal of 107 gifts total, which represents the number of years the COE has been in existence.
Goal and challenge #1: the first challenge gift of $1,500 for scholarships from UO alumna Lynne Schrum unlocks when the first gift is made.
Goal and challenge #2: the second challenge gift of $2,500 to support the COE is from our council member, Marcia Aaron. It unlocks when we reach 14 gifts, which symbolizes our national ranking among COEs of 14th in the nation.
Goal and challenge #3: the third challenge gift of $5,000 for scholarships in Communication Disorders & Sciences is from alumna Carol Yetter and unlocks when we cross the halfway mark, or 54 gifts, towards our overall goal of 107 gifts.
Goal and challenge #4: the fourth challenge gift of $60,000 for HEDCO clinical services in speech-language-pathology is from the Scottish Rite Masons. It unlocks when we get an additional 20 gifts (or 74 gifts total).
Goal and challenge #5: the fifth and final challenge of $75,000 for scholarships in teacher education and school administration is from The Rose Marie Davis Trust. It unlocks when we reach our final goal of 107 gifts, which represents the number of years the COE has been in existence.
