Your gift will support programs for students such as Wayne Morse Scholars, which provides skills building, service learning, and leadership training to UO undergrads from any major or background who are interested in public affairs and inclusive democracy. Since 2014, donors have supported more than 190 students in this program. They now working to serve their communities in Oregon and beyond in a variety of ways. Here are a few examples:
- Alyssa Huque (Mathematics & Computer Science; Political Science '21) is vice president of engineering at Ayuda, a healthcare startup; and an associate software engineer in Nike's operations and logistics.
- Madison Moskowitz (Political Science '17) serves as domestic economic policy advisor to U.S. Senator Ron Wyden.
- Dalton Fusco (Environmental Studies '16) is the development leadership team manager at Earthjustice.
- Yanely Rivas (Ethnic Studies; Planning, Public Policy, and Management '15) serves as leadership development director at Unite Oregon, formerly the Center for Intercultural Organizing and Oregon Action.
In addition to providing students with opportunities, your gift will also support the Wayne Morse Center’s free public events, which bring students, scholars, activists, policymakers, and community members together to discuss issues affecting Oregon, our nation, and the world. Your contribution allows us to hold hybrid events that you can attend online from anywhere in the world, or in person here in Eugene.
