Miss Ducks Give? It's never too late to make an impact!
UO Libraries
Help UO Students Be Career Ready!

Give today to support student employees.

Did you know? The UO Libraries employed more than 160 students in 2023, with more than 50% of their wages paid through the generosity of donors like you. Your gifts help UO Libraries offer Oregon students:

  • meaningful, academically relevant employment that fosters career skills
  • ways to offset the cost of their education
  • support for academic and professional success
  • service to the broader campus community

Every dollar you give has double the impact—directly funding a student’s education through wages, while also improving and strengthening library services to all students on our campuses.

Did you know? Many former UO Libraries student employees have gone on to pursue careers in arts and cultural heritage organizations (including libraries, archives, and museums), anthropology, communications, nonprofit management, and data analytics in Oregon and across the nation.

“I am currently a senior history major and part of the Clark Honors College and the food studies program. I’ve worked in Special Collections and University Archives (SCUA) in Knight Library since last year, and it’s been an incredibly beneficial experience for me,” shared Maggie Dobson. “Recently I had the privilege of processing Bill McChesney, Jr.’s papers, a collection of personal papers and newspapers from the UO track star, who was a nationally and internationally ranked long-distance runner …. Processing this collection, which has everything from race numbers and medals to his UO Hall of Fame induction and his obituary, was a unique task. I’m honored to have had the opportunity to preserve McChesney’s history and am happy to report that his collection was used by a researcher only days after I finished processing it.” - Maggie Dobson, Class of 2024

Why Give?

Your gift puts funding directly into students’ hands through earned wages, helping them develop valuable career skills and experience working with professionals in real-world jobs in the UO Libraries.

Your gift can employ a student to:

  • Provide a consultation on data management skillsto a peer in need of academic help ($20)
  • Write a news story sharing the great work happening in UO Libraries ($30)
  • Digitize folder of historic newspapers or photos ($50)
  • Create a video teaching UO students how to get the most out of what libraries offer to support their research ($75)
  • Prepare 120 newly purchased books for circulation to our community ($100)
  • Deliver a month of hands-on support to other students who are learning how to use recording studio equipment in the music library or laser cutters and 3D printers in the science library ($250)
  • Apprentice for three weeks in our Beach Conservation Lab, learning the art of repairing and preserving rare books and other library materials ($500)

The larger our student employment fund grows, the more and higher-quality experiences we can offer—and the more valuable a UO education can be for our stellar student employees.

“The library has been such an integral part of my law school career. I think I’ll reflect on my journey at the UO and that will always stand out,” shared Cristina Liliana Cabezasformer Law Library student employee.
