Paul Peppis: a champion for the humanities
After a distinguished career as a teacher and scholar, UO English professor Paul Peppis will retire at the end of this academic year. He has mentored and inspired scores of students and colleagues through the years. Paul has been at the helm of the Oregon Humanities Center since 2013. His leadership has been invaluable as a steadfast advocate for the humanities at the University of Oregon and beyond. We dedicate our DucksGive campaign in honor of Paul Peppis and his legacy as a teacher, scholar, and leader.
As OHC director, Paul bolstered opportunities for undergraduates to engage in research at the UO. In collaboration with the Office of the VP for Research and Innovation, he created the Humanities Undergraduate Research Fellowship in 2015. In collaboration with UO’s Special Collections and University Archives, Paul created the Humanities Undergraduate Program in Archival Studies and Practice, which was made possible by a generous gift from donors. And this year the Center for Undergraduate Research and Engagement, in consultation with Paul, decided to dedicate one of its Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships to a student with a humanities-related major. These research opportunities ensure success for students.
Please make a gift today to ensure that Paul’s legacy at the Oregon Humanities Center continues.
